What Are the Charges? |
$10 for each acknowledgment or sworn statement.
There is a minimum $35 travel charge for off-site notarizations.

About 10 to 15 minutes, depending on the number of people signing and the number of documents.

It is advisable, but not necessary.

When is Notary Service Available? |
Generally, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday and at other times by special arrangement.

What Identification Do I Need? |
- A California Department of Motor Vehicles Driver License, I.D. Card or Senior Citizen I.D. Card. The I.D. Card or License must have been issued within the last 5 years and must have your photograph on it, or
- A driver license from a state other than California, or a driver license from Canada or from Mexico, or
- A passport issued by the United States Department of State, or
- A passport issued by a foreign government (it must be stamped by the U.S. Immigration & Naturalization Service), or
- An identification card issued by any branch of the armed forces of the United States.
- Temporary licenses or I.D. cards cannot be accepted.

What if I Don't Have the Required Identification? |
Bring two people with you who personally know you, who do not have an interest in the document and who each have the required identification.

The same identification requirements apply whether you are an adult or a minor.

Birth certificates; death certificates; school transcripts; marriage records. If you are in doubt about whether your documents can be notarized, please call the Library.
